    Congratulations to all students on a fantastic concert this past Thursday! Excellent job, everyone.

    Also, congratulations to the 7th and 8th graders on a wonderful performance on Saturday for the Kiwanis pancake breakfast. Together with the PHS Orchestras we had over 100 students on the stage and they sounded awesome. Those students who were able to attend the Kiwanis performance, please add 60 minutes to your practice slip for this week. I appreciate your service!

    Practice slips are due Monday, 12/4 (100 minutes.) Interim reports go out next week, so students have one more practice slip to turn in (12/11) before interims. Those students who have earned a D or an F in any class will have an interim report sent home.

    This Wednesday, 12/6 is a half day for students. We will have odd class periods this time, so 7th and 8th graders will have Orchestra on Wednesday but 6th graders will not.

    6th graders will have a test this Thursday, 12/7 over Unit 8. Students may choose to play lines 1 and 2 or lines 3 and 4.

    We will be doing our first “Giving Bach” outreach Thursday, December 7th. We will be visiting Concordia Lutheran Pre-school. Please return permission slips ASAP if they haven’t been returned already. Our itinerary for this event is below:

    9:30 am Load bus at LMS
    10:00-10:30 am Perform at Concordia Preschool
    10:50 am return to LMS

    Students need to wear their blue “Giving Bach” t-shirts along with their normal school clothing (jeans, etc.) Those students with “Giving Bach” hoodies may wear those as well, but we will just wear our t-shirts for the event. Students need to bring their instrument, music, shoulder rests (violins/violas) and end pin holders (cellos/basses.) I would also ask that students bring a portable music stand that day.

    A little bit of information regarding the online gradebook: there seems to be some confusion regarding “missing” assignments. If an assignment has “EC” in the title, that indicates that it is extra credit. (For example , EC Concert attendance.) If a student has not turned in extra credit, then that assignment is considered missing. However, since it is extra credit, it does not negatively impact the grade. Additionally, sometimes I enter an assignment but do not enter the grades right away. Apparently these assignments are also indicated as missing. Unless the assignment has a “0” for the grade, it is not missing, but rather it has simply not been entered yet.

    There are several extra credit opportunities coming up for students. This is by no means a complete list, as there are many performances at this time of year. Students who attend a concert should get a program, get it autographed by a performer (if possible, obviously for a professional performance this may not be feasible.) Signed programs are worth 25 extra credit points, concert reviews are worth up to 100 extra credit points.

    Practice slips are due Monday, 12/4 (150 minutes.) The end of this grading period is this Friday, 12/8.

    Butter Braids will be delivered Monday, 12/4 at 11:00 am. Please plan on picking up your order either in the morning (give us some time to put the orders together) or after school. They need to go into a freezer asap after pickup.

    Our Instrumental Holiday concert is this Wednesday, 12/6 at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium. Students should be at PHS by 6:30 pm in their concert black clothing.

    We will be helping with the Booster Christmas tree sale Thursday, 12/14 from 4:00-6:00 pm. I will have a sign up for students this week. I do need some parents to help supervise for this event, as I have a conflict and cannot attend. Please let me know if you are able to work from 4:00-5:00 or 5:00-6:00 (or both hours.)
