Week of January 3rd
Extra credit practice slips are due Wednesday, 1/3. There is a regular practice slip due (100 minutes) next Monday, 1/8.
The 7th and 8th grade students will perform for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Assembly on Friday, 1/12 at 9:15 am in the LMS Gym. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this event. Students will need to wear their concert black and white clothing to school that Friday.
I am managing our regional solo and ensemble festival that will take place Saturday, 2/3 at LMS. I will be asking for a great number of student volunteers for that day and will also need some parent helpers. I will give the students information about volunteering during classes. Students will receive extra credit for any time spent volunteering for the event.
It’s not too late for students to sign up to participate in solo and ensemble festival. Any student who wishes to perform and receive an adjudication may do so. I am happy to help students find music, or they may find their own either by themselves or perhaps through a private teacher.
Extra credit practice slips are due Wednesday, 1/3 for Blue Orchestra and Thursday, 1/4 for Gray Orchestra. There is a regular practice slip due (150 minutes) next Monday, 1/8.
For Gray Orchestra students, the schedule for PHS this short week is that we have a normal Wednesday schedule on 1/3, so we don’t have 1st period that day. On Thursday, 1/4 we have a normal Thursday schedule and on Friday, 1/5 we have a Tuesday schedule. We will have 1st period both Thursday and Friday.
Regional solo and ensemble festival is Saturday, 2/3 at LMS. Students may sign up to perform either a solo or in a small ensemble. Our adjudicator this year is Ms. Giselle Hillyer, a violin teacher in Moscow. Students need to let me know if they plan to participate in solo/ensemble by Friday, 1/19.
Blue Orchestra students: our trip to the WASTA/WWU State Orchestra festival will be Friday, 3/16-Sunday, 3/18. Please let me know if you are unable to attend this trip by the end of January. It is very important to have an accurate count, particularly because if all students attend, we will need 2 buses.← Week of December 18th Week of January 8th →
