Practice Slip Due:

Week of September 10th

LMS Orchestras

It’s been a great start to the school year in our LMS Orchestra classes! I have enjoyed getting to know the 6th graders. This is the first time in 23 years that I have not already taught the kids in the 6th grade Orchestra class. A new experience for me!

Be sure to check out our website: www.lmsmusic.org. There is a lot of information there, plus our concert schedule and a printable practice slip.

Some important items to take note:

7th and 8th graders have their first practice slip due Monday, 9/10. 100 minutes for full credit. Late practice slips are accepted up to one week for half credit up to 50 points.  Students who practice over 100 minutes get extra credit for that assignment, e.g. 140 minutes is 140/100.

6th graders will turn in their first practice slip the following Monday, 9/17. They also need to turn in 100 minutes for full credit. Late practice slips are accepted up to one week for half credit up to 50 points. Students who practice over 100 minutes get extra credit for that assignment, e.g. 140 minutes is 140/100.

8th graders have a test over the g minor scale Thursday, 9/13. Students may choose to play half notes, quarter notes, or eighth notes.

7th graders have a test over the g minor scale Tuesday, 9/18. Students may choose to play half notes, quarter notes, or eighth notes.

PHS Orchestras

Welcome back to school! It’s been a great start to the year. Both Orchestras are already sounding great; I’m excited to see the things these kids will do this year.

Thanks to those who were able to attend Open House. It was great to see so many parents there. If you have any questions or concerns about anything related to Orchestra, please call or email.

Students have their first practice slip of the year due Monday, 9/10. Full credit is 150 minutes. Late practice slips are accepted up to one week for half credit, up to 75 points.

Students who are planning to audition for All-Northwest Honor Orchestra have their music and should be practicing. We will record the week of 9/24. The event is President’s Day weekend and is over in Portland. For those students who are accepted, I highly encourage parents to attend. It is truly an amazing concert; you won’t want to miss hearing your child perform with this Honor Ensemble.
