Practice Slip Due:

Week of September 24th

LMS Orchestras

Practice slips are due Monday, 9/24 (100 minutes.)

Interim reports will be sent out after October 3rd. An interim report is a progress report that is sent out halfway through each quarter for those students who are earning a “D” or an “F” in any of their classes. This is a notification so that students can make a plan to improve their grade(s) prior to the end of the quarter. Orchestra students will turn in practice slips on 9/24 and 10/1 prior to my calculating interim reports.

Concert clothing requirements: Please be sure your child has the following prior to our first concert. (First concert for 7th and 8th graders is 10/17 and first concert for 6th graders is 11/29.) Students need to wear black pants or skirt, black hosiery, black shoes, and a white shirt or blouse. Please no spaghetti straps and skirt length should be at least knee length or below. Please let me know if you need help getting concert clothing for your child. I have some donated clothing from previous students. Also, if you have outgrown concert clothing that you can donate, that is always appreciated.

A quick explanation of assignments that are listed as “EC” in the grade book: the “EC” means that assignment is designated as extra credit. For example, there is currently an “EC Concert attendance” assignment in the gradebook. Students who attend an extra credit concert and turn in a program can receive 25 extra credit points, and those who write a concert review can receive up to 100 extra credit points. For students who don’t do the extra credit, this assignment comes up as “missing.” Don’t worry: not doing extra credit does not negatively impact the grade.

Speaking of extra credit, there is a Washington-Idaho Symphony concert this Saturday at 7:30 pm at Pullman High School in the Auditorium. I’d encourage you to attend!
